Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial osteopathy is an area of osteopathy that involves a more gentle therapeutic touch. It is different in style from the manipulative approach. It puts great importance on the subtle stresses and strains affecting the whole body.
The term cranial osteopathy is not always popular within the osteopathic profession because it is not strictly accurate; the techniques are applied not only to the head but the rest of the body. These gentle techniques are well suited to children and babies so in this context some osteopaths prefer to use the term Paediatric Osteopathy.
Although often associated with babies this term still applies to treating dysfunction in children and adults alike. This may be caused by labour for a newborn, or for an adult a simple accident, the result still remains an area of pain and a dysfunction in your biomechanical structure.
At Davies and Coffey in Horsforth, Leeds we will take a detailed case history, examine and treat the patient using the most gentlest of pressure. This technique is used to aid with a wide range of patients with conditions including glue ear, migraine, dizziness and for babies, the after effects of difficult deliveries.
